Linda Mwananchi aspirant’s car rolls over, leaves several injured

Abigael Gikonyo, a prominent face of the Linda Mwananchi Movement, confirmed the accident while addressing concerns raised during the rally.
In a statement shared on her Facebook account on Sunday, July 26, 2026, Gikonyo said the vehicle lost control and rolled over, leaving some people injured.
She, however, said no lives were lost in the accident.
“We also experienced an unfortunate accident involving one of our aspirants’ vehicles after it lost control and rolled over. We thank God that no lives were lost, and those who were injured are receiving treatment,” Gikonyo said.
She urged leaders, drivers and supporters travelling to and from Linda Mwananchi events to observe speed limits and exercise caution on the roads.
“Your safety will always come first,” she said.
Sound concerns
Gikonyo also acknowledged concerns raised by supporters over the sound quality during the rally.
“Many of you noted that the sound was not clear enough when H.E. was addressing wananchi. Today’s turnout exceeded our expectations, but we hear you,” she said.
She promised that the movement would improve its sound systems and overall experience at future rallies.
“We are committed to improving our sound systems and overall experience with every rally,” she added.

The accident occurred as the Linda Mwananchi movement continued its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The movement held a high-profile tour of Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, attracting several political leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo and former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo.
The tour was part of the movement’s efforts to expand its political base across the country, with Western Kenya emerging as a key battleground ahead of the 2027 polls.
Sifuna has maintained that Linda Mwananchi will rely on contributions from ordinary Kenyans rather than wealthy political financiers.
Speaking during the Trans Nzoia tour, he said the movement had raised Ksh3 million through its paybill in less than three days.
As the movement prepares for further engagements, Gikonyo’s message has placed renewed focus on the safety of leaders and supporters travelling to political rallies, while also acknowledging concerns raised by the public over the organisation of the events.
