LG sets a sustainable future in home entertainment with eco-friendly Innovations

Each year as we mark the World Environment Day, it is emphasised that there is a very long way to go if the world is to become environmentally friendly and realise the Sustainable Development Goals. However, there are notable triumphs across many industries that should be applauded for the work currently done as far as Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects of operations are concerned.
For instance, in the tech industry, LG has endeavoured to raise the bar in their commitment to achieving a greener future by enhancing sustainability and carbon neutral environment through innovation.
As such, LG have continuously made significant investments in their research and development unit with a view to minimize the ecological impact of their operations by constantly accelerating the design and development of green technology, applying renewable economy principles, and guiding consumers in making socially conscious decisions.
Over the years, home entertainment segment is one area that LG has been able to easily create sustainable technology with the environment in mind. This is well defined and manifested by the introduction of LG OLED TVs as well as the recently launched LG Soundbars.
With Precision, sustainability aspects are well factored into every stage of LG OLED TV lifecycle, from product development to usage and even disposal.
Indeed, OLED TV models have no backlight hence fewer plastic parts, less indoor air pollution and 50 percent less VOC emissions. The have indeed been recognized as Eco Products by SGS (world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company).
LG OLED’s panels offer excellent resource efficiency and a comparatively high recycling rate, all of which speaks to LG’s consistent and wide-ranging efforts to increase sustainability at all points of its products’ journey. In addition, the technology behind LG OLED TVs doesn’t contain hazardous substances like cadmium and indium phosphide.
Besides LG Oled TV, LG has flourished in Eco-friendly innovation in the audio sound-system products going by the 2021 LG Soundbars. They are the first of their kind to receive SGS Eco Product Certification.
With a view to matching products to the environmentally friendly mindset of today’s consumer, LG soundbars use polyester resin sourced from used plastic bottles or recycled plastics. The sound bars actually use the jersey fabric sourced from recycled PET bottles and therefore for every unit produced, almost seven plastic battles are saved from the hazardous landfill.
Even more importantly, the packaging has made it environmentally friendly by use of more recycled molded pulp and less EPS plastic and foam. The new L-shaped packaging lets more units be transported at once for fewer trucks on the road which translate to reduced carbon emissions.
