In a bid to ensure effective justice for victims of sexual offenses, calls have been made for the establishment of special children’s courts across the country.

Machakos-based lawyer Bernard Mung’ata emphasised the need for strict enforcement of laws protecting children’s rights and the establishment of additional specialised courts in various counties.

The plea comes as Kenya joins the rest of the African Continent and the world in observing the Day of the African Child, which will be commemorated today.

Mung’ata highlighted the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect through public education and awareness campaigns.

“The government must create social structures that facilitate the reporting of child abuse and ensure the well-being of victims. Moreover, it should develop more programs to engage children during their leisure time and holidays. ,” he stated.
