Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has reiterated his call that residents have to receive quality medical services from all the county public facilities.

Mvurya said he will not hesitate to sack any county civil servant who will not perform their duty diligently because he made a pledge to serve the people the best way he can when he sought political leadership in 2013 and 2017 respectively.

He said public servants should always operate in a professional manner and act with a sense of urgency in the provision of services to the people.

Mvurya who was accompanied by his Deputy Fatuma Achani said public officers must at all times discharge their duties with a lot of humility and uphold the public interest by putting the public interest ‘before theirs’.

The county boss said at the onset of devolution in 2013 there were only 47 dispensaries which have since increased to 157 dispensaries across the coastal county.

“We continue to decentralise and upgrade our dispensaries in the county to ensure that our people are closer to the facilities and get quality and affordable healthcare services,” he said.

Governor Mvurya said those seeking positions in next year’s General Election should do so by selling their agendas to the people and stop abusing him or peddling ethnicity, tribalism or other worthless considerations.

“I have done my part. I am sure I and my Deputy Fatuma Achani have served you well and taken Kwale forward. We shall continue to do that. If you want a position next year, seek it respectfully,” he said.

He made the remarks at Mlunguni when he graced Neema Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) share out and later when he addressed mourners at Kitesi during the burial of veteran teacher Chidoti Nyamawi.

Governor Mvurya repeated that he is more comfortable handing the gubernatorial relay button to his Deputy Ms Achani upon leaving office in 2022 because he is sure she will continue with the legacy of development they started together.

“Other than Madam Achani, the others have no track record to show, no agenda for Kwale and no clear development vision. Achani has the leadership experience from implementing our manifesto together since 2013,” he said.

The Governor and tens of speakers described the late veteran teacher as a role model and a shining star in the teaching profession.

In attendance were County Executive Francis Gwama (Health) Ramadhani Bungale (Social Services) and Sylvia Chidodo of Public Service and Administration.
