ODM leader Raila Odinga has vowed to soldier on with his quest for power despite the verdict by the Court of Appeal on the BBI debate.

Odinga said the flopping of BBI at the Courts is not the end of the road for his quest to transform the country, and the court’s verdict on BBI will not thwart his presidential bid.

“It’s the 2010 constitution that was crafted out of  the Bomas draft that we wanted to amend through BBI, but the courts has done their job, but we are used to such verdicts,” said Raila adding that ” kuvunjika kwa mwiko sio mwisho was upishi” (the fall if BBI is not the end of the road’),” said Raila.

Odinga while addressing mourners during the burial of Dr Patrick Anyango Orege at Koyucho, Bondo Sub-county noted that his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga suffered the same fate while he was struggling to push for multi-party politics in the country.

“We accept the court’s verdict on BBI, that’s their job but as reformed groups, we are used to such verdicts, during the creation of Section 2A, the courts rejected a bid by Jaramogi to initiate LDP party as that would encourage a multi- party in the country,” Raila said.

Odinga said his father insisted on pushing for multi-party saying the country was not coercive to it even if it takes 100 years it will still pick up and thrives.

‘’It’s the same spirit that I will live by for I know the contents of BBI are suitable for this country and because multi-party thrived during the era of my father, so shall we reap the benefits of the BBI,” said Raila

Odinga was accompanied by East African Legislative Assembly Member Dr Oburu Oginga, Siaya Deputy Governor Dr James Okumbe, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo and See MP Dr James Nyikal.

The ODM leader said most of the BBI content including positions of Presidents, it’s Deputy, Prime Minister, it’s two Deputies was drawn from Bomas draft that was equally brought down by Courts.

He however asked DP William Ruto who is celebrating the court ruling to prepare for a brushing battle in 2022.

Odinga said that seat for power has been elusive due to his stand as opposition leader, but now that he is enjoying the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, he has no doubts.

“Let our people be armed with Identification cards and voter’s cards in readiness of the 2022 elections. The DP who is boating of bottom up approach of economy will be shocked in 2022,” Raila said.

“Although the sting of the court has hit us hard, we shall continue pushing for this country agenda without BBI. Things are on course and the country is upbeat as we know our son from Bondo will capture the seat,” Oburu Odinga said.
