While speaking to the media on Monday, October 27, 2025, Kinoti said that the new centre is being established around City Cabanas, where construction works have already begun.
He noted that the project will ensure all major junctions across Nairobi are fitted with traffic cameras to monitor and manage vehicle movement from the control center.

The KURA boss also confirmed that the Ksh3 billion Kenyatta Avenue–Ngong Road Viaduct, which is set to connect the Nairobi Central Business District from Kenyatta Avenue to Upper Hill, is back in full force after being suspended for three years due to a lack of funds. He stated that all pending bills have been settled and that the project is expected to be completed by May 2027.
“Almost three years, because you could not pay our painting bills, but through that initiative, we have been able to pay, and the contractor is now on the ground, among other contractors,” Kinoti added.
The viaduct is expected to ease congestion within the CBD by providing an alternative route for vehicles heading to and from Upper Hill. The funds necessary for the project have been raised through the Road Maintenance Levy Securitisation Fund.
Another project earmarked for completion is the Ngong Road junction, which is located at The Junction Mall. The KURA boss stated that it will be completed by June 2026, a year earlier than initially planned. He noted that the original contract period was 36 months, but the contractor has expressed commitment to completing the project within two years.
