KMTC announces immediate intake for over 30 medical programmes

The Kenyan Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has called for applications for medical courses at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

In a statement by the placement service on April 21, 2026, the recruitment drive is specifically designed to fill remaining vacancies for the 2026 academic year, offering a second chance to 2025 KCSE candidates and previous leavers who missed the initial placement window.

The placement service confirmed that enrollment will be unique, with successful students joining the institution immediately.

“Interested in medical courses? Good news! KUCCPS and Kenya Medical Training College are giving you a chance to apply for diploma and certificate KMTC programmes for immediate intake,” KUCCPS stated.

How to apply and deadline

Qualified students have until May 6, 2026, to submit their choices.

Candidates seeking to apply for the courses were urged to do so through the KUCCPS student portal: students.kuccps.ac.ke

Upon accessing the application portal, an applicant will be prompted to enter their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) index number, KCSE year, and password.

Students have been advised to use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as their password.

Courses offered

The programmes offered include Certificate courses in Community Health Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Insurance Management, and Health Records and Information Technology.

Other Certificate courses are available in Medical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, and Public Health.

Applicants may also enrol for Diploma programmes in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Community Health, Community Oral Health, Dental Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Counselling, Health Insurance Management, and Health Promotion.

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is also offering Diploma courses in Records and Information Technology, Medical Engineering, Laboratory Sciences, Medical Social Work, Mortuary Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, and Orthopaedic Technology.

Additional diploma programmes include Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Radiography and Imaging, as well as Speech and Language Therapy.

KUCCPS portal

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its 2026 placement cycle on April 7, 2026, marking the start of the selection process for students seeking admission to universities and colleges across the country.

According to the ministry, the KUCCPS placement portal is now live and will remain open until May 6, 2026, giving applicants a one-month window to submit and revise their course and institution choices.
