The second kickboxing tournament in Kenya took place last weekend in Nakuru County at the legendary Madison Square Garden Sports Hall, marking a successful event.

Japheth Yahuma, the President of the World Kickboxing Federation Kenya (WKF), expressed his satisfaction with the tournament, speaking exclusively to People Sport on Tuesday.
Yahuma highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “It was called so, as it’s the first event since I was appointed the federation’s president.

The federation is now 6 months old. Our first event was on June 24, in Kayole 2 Social Hall, Nairobi, and it was a seminar known as the WKF Kenya National Coaches, Schools, and Referees seminar.”

The tournament in Nakuru town featured nine teams that showcased their fighting skills. Kivumbini from Nakuru emerged as the overall winners, securing six gold medals. Nairobi’s Dragon came in second with five gold medals, followed by Hardcore from the neighboring county with four gold medals.

Lion Heart from Kangemi and Takid’s finished in the fourth and fifth places, respectively, each earning a gold and a silver medal.

Notable fights during the tournament included Meshach Atomic of Hardcore Nairobi defeating Lion Heart’s Bernard Achoki to claim the gold medal in the 69kg senior men’s welterweight category.
In the featherweight category, David Omondi from Kivumbini defeated Samson Mutua of Young Tigers Nakuru to clinch gold.

Ian Lee Kiptoo of Takid’s Nairobi secured gold in the male senior light welterweight category by defeating Maxwell Odhiambo from Kivumbini Nakuru.

In the men’s lightweight finals, Jin Shem from Dragon Nairobi emerged victorious, beating Peter Kabiru of Kivumbini Nakuru to claim gold. Peter from Kivumbini Nakuru knocked out Kennedy Mwangi from Takid’s Nairobi, securing the gold medal in the men’s senior light bantamweight category.
In the junior category for women, Tessy Nabwire of Hardcore Nairobi defeated Faith Joy Nyambura of Kivumbini Nakuru to win gold.

Faith Atieno from Dragon Nairobi clinched gold by beating Daphine Kunga of Kivumbini Nakuru.
In the seniors category, Dragon’s bantamweight champion, Seline Osachi, defeated
