The differences between Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu played out at the BBI consultative meeting at Kitui Stadium on Saturday.

From the onset, the meeting appeared clouded in suspicions as political camps sought to outwit each other. There also appeared to be confusion on the running of the day’s programme.

Being the coordinator of BBI in Lower Eastern region, Ngilu wanted to be fully in charge of the meeting.

But the Wiper camp wanted to run the show, insisting the event was being held on its stronghold.

To make a point about who was the host, the stadium was painted in  rainbow colours of Ngilu’s Narc Kenya party, to the annoyance of Kalonzo’s supporters.

Some of Kalonzo’s supporters accused Ngilu of belittling their leader.

“This is supposed to be BBI meeting but as you can see, it has all do with the rainbow colours of Ngilu’s party,” Paul Nzioka, a resident of Kitui East said.

To counter Ngilu’s plans, Kalonzo’s team mounted pro-Wiper banners prominently around the stadium.
