Kisumu healthcare workers to strike

Health workers in Kisumu county have threatened to call for a fresh strike next month over unresolved grievances.

The healthcare service providers including Kenya National Union of Nurses, Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO), Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers and Kenya National Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists, have issued a month’s strike notice over unmet grievances.

The health sector unionists are demanding promotions, deployment of additional staff, sustainable provision of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical products and end of late payment of salaries.

Led by Kisumu county branch KUCO Secretary Craus Odhiambo and chairman Vincent Owaa, the health employees have threatened to down tools.
