By Mary Ouko, January 21, 2023
Two giant schools in the Masaba South sub-county, Kisii county have sprung back from a lull and posted record performances in last year’s KCSE.
Mobamba high school registered a mean score of 9.3 from last year’s 5.1 with the entire 348 candidates enrolled for the exam qualifying to join public universities.
No candidate garnered marks below grade C plus, failed to sit for the exam or had an irregularity.
The Principal, George Ogochi assured education stakeholders of the school’s preparedness to post even better exam results in future after its recent promotion to extra-county status.
Similarly, Ibacho high school pulled a surprise by shining with a mean score of over 7 from last year’s digit of 4. A total of 87 candidates out of 153 who sat for the 2022 KCSE exams qualified to join public universities.
The school’s Principal Philip Ochoi, attributed the improved performance to devoted teaching staff, the board of management and parents. He further singled out the students’ high standards of discipline and commitment to excel.
Stakeholders interviewed described the good performance as a result of sound management of the institutions and respect for authority and fear of God.
