Preparations to host Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga for a rally at Gusii stadium tomorrow have been finalized, Azimio leaders said yesterday.

Nyanza region Azimio Secretary, Mark Abongo said the former prime minister, accompanied by leaders Kalonzo Musyoka ( Wiper) and Martha Karua ( Narc Kenya) would address roadside rallies at keroka, keumbu markets and arrive at Gusii stadium by noon.

“The Azimio supporters from Nyanza’s six counties – Kisii, Nyamira, Homabay, Kisumu, Migori and Siaya will throng the stadium to welcome Raila and his entourage,” Abongo told the press at the stadium after they inspected the venue.

The official said they were satisfied with the preparations and urged residents from Nyanza region’s six counties to turn up at the stadium for the rally and listen to the leaders.

He was accompanied by the region’s chairman, Kennedy Otieno, vice chairman, Kerosi Ondieki, youth leader, Dennis Mosoti, Woman Leader, Anastancia Nyanganga, Homabay County ODM chairman and People living with disabilities airman Kennedy Kombo.

The official denied claims by critics that the rally was to incite residents against the government, saying the rallies being held are constitutional and peaceful.

Ondieki, who doubles up as county ODM chairman said the former prime minister’s rally would be peaceful, adding he would sensitize residents on the state of the economy and preach peace.

“We are set to host Raila and his team and urge those who are against him to keep off. I urge residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome him,” Kerosi said.

He said some leaders who had turned against the former prime minister benefitted from the ODM party, adding that Azimio leaders will not allow them to disrupt the meeting.

Mosoti told critics of the Azimio leader to keep off the rally, stressing the county is an ODM zone and Raila is welcome to address issues affecting the country.
