Kisii: Business community donates items worth Sh11 million

Business community in Kisii county Thursday donated equipment, food stuff  and sanitizers worth Sh11 million to the county to help combat  the spread of coronavirus.

Governor James Ongwae said Kibos Limited Sugar Company donated 3000 litres of sanitizers valued at Sh10 million while the businessmen gave assorted Personal  Protection Equipment ( PPE) and lime for spot marking worth   Sh1 million through the local chambers chapter.

Addressing the County COVID-19 Coordination Committee during a meeting at Agricultural Training Centre, the governor noted the materials will be given traders, boda boda operators and vulnerable groups.

“ We will have model market Centres along the same line to maintain social distancing among market goers,” said Ongwae, stressing the effort is geared towards ensuring steady supply of food commodities and urged traders to embrace social distancing guidelines.
