Kisia: Rituals performed at Jirongo’s funeral to haunt anyone involved in his death

Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisias has come out to reveal a ritual that Tiriki elders performed at the home and funeral of the late former Lugari MP, Cyrus Jirongo, ahead of his burial.

Speaking during an interview on a local podcast, which aired on Saturday, January 10, 2025, Kisia stated unequivocally that there are still doubts over whether it was truly God who took the life of the late father of 38.

Kisia said that if Jirongo’s death was indeed caused by God, then he should rest in peace. However, if anyone was involved in his death, then their generation should be cursed.

He further noted that despite the autopsy conducted on Jirongo’s body at Lee Funeral Home, which found that he died from blunt force trauma to the chest, there remain many unanswered questions surrounding his death.

As a result, Tiriki elders, from the community to which Jirongo belonged and which he deeply cherished, performed a ritual.

The ritual

According to Kisia, the ritual best understood by the Tiriki people is meant to haunt the killer, with claims that the curse can manifest through abnormal growths, such as horns appearing on the forehead.

Being a Tiriki himself, Kisia emphasised that the Tiriki community takes such matters very seriously, especially when a loved one dies under unclear circumstances. He added that, according to their traditions, they cannot simply let such an issue rest without seeking spiritual justice.

“However, if there was a human hand, as we suspect there could have been a human hand, then may that person and the generations to come be cursed, and the Tiriki elders performed some custom, some tradition. Yeah, we did. Performed, and the Tirikis are very, very serious when it comes to those issues,” he said.

“Look for a Tiriki. When a Tiriki says ‘Ntakusola mvueni,’ something can end up growing here, so be very, very careful.”

Tiriki elders curse

This comes days after Tiriki elders invoked curses on anyone who may have had a hand in the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

While speaking after visiting Cyrus Jirongo’s home in Gigiri, where they donned traditional attire to pay their condolences to their son, who was a Tiriki and born in Vihiga, the elders showered praise on the father of 38, describing him as the face of the

Tiriki, a sub-tribe of the broader Luhya community, whose most norms closely resemble those of the Kalenjin community.

One elder, identified as Wandabuli, who donned religious attire synonymous with the African Divine Church, which is domiciled in major parts of Western Kenya, in his prayer told Jirongo’s spirit that if there was anyone involved in his demise, he should pursue them relentlessly and deny them peace.

Philip Kisia himself, during his friend’s requiem mass at Citam Valley Road, also cursed whoever might have been involved in the death of Cyrus.

Jirongo died following a road accident in the Kerar area near Naivasha town after a head-on collision with a Climax Coach bus en route to Busia on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
