Kingi implores Ichung’wah to stand firm in his support of Ruto despite backlash
By Luke Oluoch, September 15, 2025Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has urged Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah to remain steadfast in his support for President William Ruto, even in the face of opposition.
Speaking during the burial of Ichungw’ah’s father in Kikuyu on Monday, September 15, 2025, the speaker lauded the MP for his astute leadership.
Kingi noted that Ichungw’ah made the right decision to side with Ruto’s administration.
He noted that the National Assembly Majority Leader made an unpopular decision, but it was a good one for the development of his constituency.
“You need to lead people to where they are supposed to go, and that is where you can find development. Ichungw’ah would have chosen to fight Ruto’s government, come back to his constituency, and be raised high on shoulders as a hero. But at the end of the day, those same people would demand roads and other basic services provided by the government,” he stated.

“He decided, come what may, he would make sure development comes home, whether it would sacrifice his political career, it was about bringing development to the Kikuyu constituency. My brother, stand firm!” he implored.
His sentiment comes after politicians at the function lauded the lawmaker for being an uncompromising and steadfast politician.
National Assembly leaders Aaron Cheruiyot and Junet Mohammed from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lauded Ichung’wah for being an honest and upfront leader.
Speaking ones mind
“They say mzee used to speak his mind. For those who know Ichungw’ah, he says things as they are; there are no grey areas for him. He says black is black and white is white. This has often landed him in trouble. For him, if he likes something, he says it, and if he doesn’t, he also says it,” Cheruiyot stated.
Embu Governor Cecil Mbarire also lauded the Kikuyu MP for his nationalistic approach to issues, stressing that he was a case of the apple that never falls far from the tree.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula also heaped praise on the Kikuyu MP for taking the best qualities from his late dad.
“Ichung’wah is a man with a decent head on his shoulders. He is a hard worker, a candid politician who speaks openly and does his job with devotion.”
