Kindiki urges leaders to unite all Kenyans

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has appealed to political leaders to stop dividing Kenyans along tribal lines and instead unite and help improve their lives. He lashed out at leaders using their tribe to foster premature campaigns and challenged Kenyans to avoid them, stressing the next General Election “is far”.
Accompanied by Ruto’s personal Assistant Farouk Kibet, the DP implored leaders to slow down their campaigns and allow President Ruto’s government to implement projects as per the pledges made to Kenyans during the campaigns.
“Political campaigns are far. When the time comes, I will wear a T-shirt and a hat and hit the campaign trail” Kindiki said at Etago stadium during a funds drive for various groups in South Mugirango constituency. He urged Kenyans with divergent political views to give them but ensure they do not sabotage the country’s economy.
“We do not want leaders to incite each other based on religion and tribes. We are one country, one people and Kenya is our home,” Kindiki noted and urged Kenyans to embrace tolerance.
The DP said leaders have a right to form political parties and differ in political ideologies, adding the unity of the nation and the security of Kenyans was more important and the government will protect them.
“It is good for Kenyans to enjoy peace wherever they are and will not allow any leaders to whip emotions among communities and breach the prevailing peace” Kindiki noted.

‘Bringing development’
Echoing his sentiments, Kitutu Chache North lawmaker, Japhet Nyakundi and Kisii County Woman Representative, Dorice Donya said it was wrong for some leaders to incite tribes against each other for selfish political interest.
Donya said members of the Gusii community stay across the country and they will allow leaders to incite the communities to cause chaos as witnessed during the 2007 election.
Bomachoge Chache MP, Alpha Miruka and West Mugirango MP, Steve Mogaka said they helped to form the government and will not be forced to move out by some leaders to join other leaders.
“We pay taxes to the government and expect development. It will be wrong for leaders from the Gusii community to pay tax and leave other communities to benefit” Mogaka said.
Miruka urged former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who is in the broad-based government to support the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to remain with MPs.
