Kindiki makes another foray to Mt Kenya region

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki yesterday said the Kenya Kwanza government will complete all projects promised in Nyandarua before 2027.
Speaking when he launched resumption of tarmacking of the 27.5 kilometres Tumaini-Gwa Kiongo-Kabazi road in Ol Kalou constituency, The DP promised to camp in the County to ensure the projects are done before next General Election.
The road will cost Sh1.1 billion. Kidiki said the contractor, S.S Mehta, has returned to the site after he was paid his pending dues.
Kindiki said in addition to the road, the government will upgrade other roads in Nyandarua County totaling 282km.
He announced that Sh500 million will be available for immediate electrification in the County. He said Sh1.6 billion will be used in the next two years to also connect 600,000 homes.
“Those who think they will use the stalled projects as a political weapon against us will be surprised because all the roads, electrification and markets will be completed before 2027,” he said.
The DP also inspected the ongoing construction of a modern market at Gwa-Kiongo town. He said the market will have cold rooms where traders will store their perishable goods to avoid post harvest loses.
“This market will have a breastfeeding section for mothers, a boardroom where traders will hold their meetings and also a digital hub for those doing digital jobs,” the second in command said.
He said Kenya Kwanza has decided to shelf politics and concentrate on delivering on promises made during the campaigns.
He said the country’s economy had recovered from the effects of Covid-19, as evidenced by drop in cost of essential commodities like unga and fuel.
Unlike in other meetings where other leaders speak before the senior most leader is called, the protocol was changed where the DP was invited by the Ol kalou Mp, David Kiaraho to speak immediately the gathering was called to order.
From then on it is the DP who called other leaders to speak starting with Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wa. Others were Senate leader of majority Aron Cheruiyot and MPs George Gachagwa (Ndaragwa), Kwenya Thuku (Kinangop) and Faith Gitau (Nyandarua Woman Rep).
CS Rebecca Miano who is from the county also spoke.
Ichung’wa, Gachagwa and Kwenya cautioned residents of the county against fighting the government in power saying they stood to benefit in development if they supported the administration.
“We can’t keep whipping the cow that is giving us milk and expect to continue milking it,” Kwenya said.
Ichung’wa faced subdued hostility by a section of the people unlike when he accompanied President William Ruto to Nyandarua recently when he was intensely heckled.
