Kindiki joins Kenyans and leaders in mourning late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, March 29, 2026Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has joined Kenyans and leaders across the country in mourning the passing of David Njuguna Kiaraho, the third-term Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency, who passed on while receiving treatment in Nairobi.
In a statement on his social media handles on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Kindiki mentioned the news of the death of the legislator as a grim reminder of how insignificant and fleeting life on earth is, and he went on to talk about Kiaraho as a very polite and respectable gentleman whose work was not limited to politics.
“The depressing news of the death of David Kiaraho, MP for Ol Kalou, is a grim reminder of how fickle and fleeting life on Earth is. He was a polite and respectful gentleman.
“It was hard for those who did not know him to estimate that he was a third-term MP and also a brilliant and respected member of the architectural community. His family has lost a pillar, his constituents of Ol Kalau have lost a steady representative, and Kenya has lost an accomplished son who has fallen at his prime, when he was needed most. May his soul find peace in eternity,” Kindiki said.

He has observed that what some people who did not really know Kiaraho well may have been unaware of is that he was not only a veteran parliamentarian but also a brilliant and admired designer in the architectural fraternity.
Kindiki made some touching condolences concerning the family of Kiaraho and said they had lost the support of a pillar, and the people of Ol Kalou had lost a faithful and reliable delegate. Kindiki said that Kenya has lost a brilliant son who was on top of his long career just when his experience and leadership were needed most.
Kiaraho’s death
Kiaraho died at around 1:20 am on Sunday, March 29, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital, following a prolonged illness. He had been in and out of the hospital in recent months, seeking medical attention both locally and abroad.
In an official communication issued by the Speaker, Wetang’ula appointed Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku to chair the funeral preparation committee, with Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau serving as his deputy. The two will work alongside seven other members to coordinate the arrangements, liaise with the family, and plan a befitting send-off.
“In this regard, I have appointed members to the Funeral Preparation Committee to liaise with the family and coordinate a befitting send-off for the late Hon. Kiaraho. The Member will lead the team for Kinangop, the Hon. Kwenya Thuku, MP, assisted by the Member for Nyandarua, the Hon. Faith Gitau, CBS, MP, and seven (7) other Hon. Members,” Wetang’ula stated.
David Kiaraho’s biography
The incumbent David Kiaraho, who was initially elected to serve Ol Kalou Constituency on a Jubilee Party ticket, had also served three terms in Parliament and was re-elected in 2022. He was a quiet leader with a friendly leadership style, which was highly respected by those on the other side of the political spectrum.

Kiaraho was also a respected architect and a professional member of the architectural community in Kenya, having worked on many significant projects in his career, other than in the political field.
The unexpected and unfortunate death of the lawmaker has come as a shock to his constituents and leaders around the country, with several people terming it a great loss not only to Ol Kalou but also to Kenya as a whole.
