Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has been ranked as the best performing in the first 10 months of President William Ruto’s administration.

According to a poll released yesterday, Kindiki scored 59 per cent, followed by Education’s Ezekiel Machogu with 55 per cent while Roads, Transport and Public Works CS Kipchumba Murkomen, his Agriculture and Health counterparts Mithika Linturi and Susan Nakhumicha were ranked in third position after scoring 53 per cent each.

Others in the top 10 include Aden Duale (defence) who scored 52 per cent, tied with Ababu Namwamba (Sports), Eliud Owalo (ICT) 51 per cent, while Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Penina Malonza (Tourism) and Alice Wahome (Water) all scored 50 per cent.

The bottom three in the list are David Chirchir (Energy 45 per cent), Florence Bore (Labour) and Njuguna Ndung’u (Treasury) who scored 46 per cent. The CSs have however been given a score of C while the remaining bottom 10 CSs have been given a D.

Reads the report: “So far how would you rate the overall performance of the various cabinet secretaries in the first 10 months after the swearing in. [On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being Excellent and 1 being extremely poor.”

According to the report, 4,000 respondents were interviewed from August 21 – 23.
The sampling frame was designed using Population Proportionate to Size guided by the 2019 Census.
In terms of regions, Kindiki was rated high in Rift Valley with 41 per cent, followed by Central (36 per cent) and lowest in Nyanza (17 per cent) and Nairobi (27 per cent).

Machogu on the other hand was rated best in North Eastern region (20 per cent), Eastern (17 per cent) and ranked lowest in Rift Valley and Western regions with 8 per cent while Nakhumicha was ranked the best in Nairobi and North Eastern regions with 11 per cent and lowest in Rift Valley and Western at seven and eight per cent respectively.

With regards to performance by ministries, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration emerged as the best ministry with 56 per cent, followed by Education 55 per cent, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Roads, Transport and Public Works, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Health 53 per cent.
