Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo on Monday heaped praises on Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki over his devotion to the people of Makueni.

Addressing a crowd at Kambu Town in Makueni county on Monday, March 11, 2024, the county head praised the CS for defending the county on the allocation of funds during his stint as Tharaka Nithi senator.

“The reason I celebrate you professor and I must tell the people of Makueni, wakati kulikua na vita senate Makueni ipoteze pesa, huyu akiwa upande wa serikali alisimama na Makueni, (When there was war at the Senate and Makueni was to lose funds, Kindiki stood with us despite being on the government side)” Kilonzo said.

Kilonzo admitted that working with Kindiki, then a senator, was the best thing that happened to him, he also described their work compatibility as easy and smooth because he (Kindiki) was always available whenever he was needed.

“The best thing that has happened to me nikiwa gavana wenu ni kua na watu ambao nilifanya kazi nao, because professor Kithure Kindiki is available when I need him na amechagua hii Kambu as the first one to commission out of his busy schedule amesema lazima akuje hapa,” Kilonzo stated.

The Makueni governor while describing Kindiki as a true friend, reminisced the times they prayed for one another before the 2022 presidential campaigns.

Kilonzo recalled that he had prayed and hoped that Kindiki would be picked to deputise President William Ruto during the 2022 election campaigns whereas Kindiki prayed for him to become governor.

“Nilikua namuombea akue kitu ingine huyu, tulikua kwa magoti, I was praying for him akue deputy president, he knows and he was praying for me to be the governor,”Kilonzo said.
