Kiharu residents in uproar over Ndindi removal
By Wangari.Njuguna, March 14, 2025Ouster of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro (left)from the position of chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee has sparked an uproar from residents of his constituency who are now claiming that the move was political witch-hunt.
The residents said the scathing attacks by the National Assembly Leader of Majority and Leader of Minority towards Nyoro was an orchestrated move to try to tarnish his name.
Magochi Murathi, one of the residents and a political activist slammed Junet Mohamed and Kimani Ichung’wah over claims that Ndindi was making inappropriate allocations to divert money for development in his constituency terming it as a lie.
Murathi said Nyoro who has on several occasions been ranked the best and second best performing MP in the country, is an economist who has ensured the public funds are prudently used.
Further, he said MPs have also been coming to the area for benchmarking of various projects to go implement in their respective projects.
“Claims that Nyoro was diverting funds to his constituency for development are unfounded and the two should table the evidence,” said Murathi.
Ruto silence
He said this is a political ploy to try to dim Nyoro’s political star given that he has been very vocal at the national level.
He however wondered why President William Ruto has been silent over the matter as they were once close allies and Nyoro has been his right-hand man.
“During the campaign, Ruto visited Kiharu and requested the people to allow him to go with Nyoro for vote hunting in other parts of the country but he is now silent,” he remarked.
Kamau Mutuota, another resident claimed that Ichung’wah was being used to fight leaders from Mt. Kenya region who don’t seem to align to the command of the president.
Mutuota claimed this is a political ploy to ‘punish’ Nyoro due to his apparent political affiliation as he did not support the ouster of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
He also sought to defend the developments done by the MP saying the improvement on the school infrastructure was done during his first term and then he was not the chair of the budget committee.
