Three members of the Kiambu County Assembly who were suspended two weeks ago have dismissed the Assembly Speaker as a ‘bossy lord of impunity’.

The trio who include Leader of Majority Gideon Gachara, Chief Whip Simon Karema and Deputy Majority party leader Ann Wanjiku accused the Speaker of arrogance and disrespect to the rule of law for ignoring a court order allowing them to gain access into the assembly.

“Ndicho is running affairs of the Assembly like a private enterprise. He doesn’t want us in the Assembly because we shall expose his misdeeds,” Gachara said.

The three were suspended by Ndichu over alleged misconduct and breach of standing orders of the assembly after which the Jubilee Party replaced them to allow independent investigations

The party appointed Elijah Njoroge as the new Leader of Majority, Peter Kioi the Majority Chief Whip and Cecilia Njuguna as the Deputy Majority party leader.

The MCAs had stormed the Assembly on December 2 and caused mayhem during a board meeting, violently and physically ejecting the Speaker, Clerk and other officials from their offices. They were suspended for 60 days as per a letter signed by Ndicho on December 3.

“The party regrets that our house leadership could orchestrate such violence and disruptions during the Assembly sitting against party principles of tolerance, consultations and humane doctrine set out in the Code of Conduct,” Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju wrote in a letter.
