Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale on Friday lectured Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha over the downgrading of the Iguhu Level IV Hospital to a dispensary.

Addressing a crowd in Kakamega, Khalwale told off Nakhumicha over her recent plans to downgrade the facility to a dispensary for lacking a mortuary among other important resources.

While acknowledging that he established the hospital, the senator pointed out that as a CS, Nakhumicha should find ways to resolve the unavailability of resources by disbursing funds to cater for whatever it is that the hospital lacks instead of downgrading it to a dispensary.

He sternly cautioned the CS that any efforts to downgrade the facility would attract dire consequences and that anyone who dared to would have to bring him down first.

“Ata vile President amekua, Iguhu hospital naskia waziri wetu Susan Nakhumicha amesema kwamba kwa sababu mortuary haiko, Iguhu ishukishwe madaraka itoke Level IV ikue dispensary. Nakhumicha listen to me very carefully you minister, hio hospitali ya Iguhu nlijenga na hii mikono yangu na kama katika your own assesment umepata ni mortuary ama nini haiko huko huezi shukisha madaraka ya hospitali ni kazi yako ulete pesa ujenge mortuary Ikuhu. You cannot and if you do it utakua umeshukisha hospitali na kabla ushukishe hospitali itabidi kwanza ushukishe Khalwale,” Khalwale stated.

Loosely translates to;

“I heard CS Susan Nakhumicha saying she will downgrade Iguhu Level IV Hospital to a dispensary because it lacks a mortuary. Nakhumicha listen to me carefully, I built Iguhu Hospital and if in your assessment you discovered that the facility lacks a mortuary or any other thing, you can’t downgrade it, it’s your job to disburse funds to build a mortuary at the facility. You cannot downgrade the hospital and if you do, you will have to bring down Khalwale.”
