KFCB re-advertises CEO position

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has readvertised the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In a notice on Tuesday, December 5, the board invited eligible applicants to reapply for the position seven months after advertising the post.
“Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) is a state corporation established under the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222, of the Laws of Kenya to regulate the creation, broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition of film content.
“To enhance its capacity to deliver on the afore-cited statutory mandate, KFCB invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO),” the notice reads.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Management to execute various statutory functions.
Interested candidates should submit their applications to the board on or before December 25, 2023.
To be considered for the position, KFCB said, an applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcast Production (Film, Television or Radio), Public Relations, Mass Communication, Business Administration, Law, Sociology, Public Administration, Literature or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
The candidate must also have a Master’s degree in Media Studies, Journalism, Broadcast Production (Film, Television, Radio) Public Relations, Mass Communication, Business Administration, Law, Sociology, Public Administration, Literature or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
The candidate should also have 15 years of work experience, with at least 10 years of relevant work experience in Senior Management.
Other desired qualifications include a certificate in leadership course from a recognised institution, valid membership to a recognised professional body.
The candidate must also demonstrate a good understanding of the Constitution of Kenya and Vision 2030 and other Government policies in relation to the Board’s mandate as well as fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a three-year contract eligible for renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
KFCB vacancy
KFCB has not had a substantive CEO since the exit of Ezekiel Mutua in August 2021. Christopher Wambua held the position in an acting capacity until September this year when he was appointed the Acting Director General/CEO of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).
The board appointed Joel Wamalwa to head the agency in an acting capacity pending the recruitment of a substantive CEO.
