Kenya is set to host the third edition of the Africa Media Festival (AMF) slated for February 26-27, at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi.

The continental fete that aims to connect media professionals, storytellers, and innovators from across the continent has been hosted in Nairobi for three years in a row since 2023.

Its organisers said that the event has offered a platform where meaningful conversations about the future of African media have been the main agenda.

An estimated 1,300 attendees and 120 speakers have participated during the 50 sessions of the first two years of the festival.

During this year’s meeting, attendees will focus on addressing structural, technological, and cultural challenges in African media while seeking to build pathways for collaboration and representation.

Deputy Curator Africa Media Festival Martie Mtange emphasized that this year, the Africa Media Festival will spotlight the unsung heroes of the media industry—those whose work often goes unnoticed but drives significant impact.

Dynamic sessions

Mtange hinted that attendees can look forward to dynamic sessions on how to stand out in today’s saturated content creation landscape, thought-provoking discussions led by social impact media practitioners on the power of representation, and practical workshops tailored for young media professionals across Africa.

“Our evening concerts promise unforgettable performances when the sun sets, including surprise acts that we believe you’ll all enjoy. Come ready to connect with media and creative professionals, gain valuable insights, and celebrate the ever-evolving media world,” Mtange said.

It will be a beehive of activities during the two-day event that is themed: ‘Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures,’ as the participants engage on new ideas and perspectives about the future of African media.

According to the event’s schedule, there will be workshops to provide practical, hands-on opportunities for the participants to grasp emerging trends and tools in media.
