The historic decision was confirmed during a Planet Coalition leaders’ lunch meeting hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside President William Ruto, during the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“Kenya will host the Africa-France Summit in 2026. This marks the first time the summit will occur outside of France or a Francophone African nation,” Mohamed stated.
The summit will bring together Heads of State and Government, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders to discuss reforms in global financial institutions and governance systems.
The discussions aim to better address the planetary crisis, an effort in which Kenya and France have been key collaborators.
