‘Kenya si mali ya Ruto na Gachagua’ – Raila

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya supremo Raila Odinga has called out Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua over his remarks that the current administration was a company run by himself and his boss President William Ruto.

Gachagua who was speaking in Kericho on Sunday, February 19, 2023, stated that it was hilarious that some members of the opposition were trooping at State House seeking government positions.

He noted that the government would only reward its staunch supporters who worked tooth and nail to ensure that they clinched power.

“This government is a shares company. It has the owners who have majority shares, those with minority shares and those with no shares,” Gachagua stated.

“You invested in this company owned by William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua you must harvest. You invested and your time to harvest is now… Even they (the opposition) will harvest, but they have to wait for you to finish harvesting.”

In his reply to the DP today, Saturday, February 25, 2023, Raila underscored that it was wrong for the DP to act as if the country belongs to the current administration.

He alluded that everyone pays taxes and therefore there should be equity regardless of one’s political stand.

The former premier further criticized the current administration for only granting job opportunities to their allies

“Uliona yule makamu wake akisema ati Kenya ni kampuni, others have more shares, others have less shares, others have no shares, sasa kama ni kampuni wewe unafanya nini huko, sasa si wew unatoa ushuru, kila mkenya anatoa ushuru mama akienda kwa duka kununua sukari, anatoa ushuru, akinunua chumvi ametoa ushuru…ukikunywa coco cola umetoa ushuru, ukivuta sigara ndan yake, ukikunywa ile one for the road pia ndani yake; Hio ni ushuru ambayo wanaokota kwenu usiku na mchana upende usipende, lakini ikifika wakati wa kuajiri watu ni wao pekee yao,” he said.

“Tumesema kwamba Kenya si mali ya William Ruto na Rigathi Gachietha. Tumesema Kenya ni ya wakenya,” he added.
