Kenya sets the stage to honour its top farmers at National Awards in Kericho
Kericho County will command the national spotlight on December 19, 2025, as the National Farmers Awards and Celebrations return in a bold, high-impact tribute to the men and women driving Kenya’s food systems, rural economies, and agribusiness growth, the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development, posted on Facebook on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Set against the lush highlands of the tea belt at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium, the flagship event, hosted by the Ministry in partnership with county governments, will bring together farmers, agribusiness leaders, innovators, policymakers, and development partners from across the country starting at 9:00 a.m.
More than a ceremony, the National Farmers Awards have evolved into Kenya’s premier platform for recognising agricultural excellence, spotlighting those advancing productivity, value addition, employment, and food security across the entire value chain.
This year’s awards break from tradition by acknowledging every link in the agricultural chain, from soil to shelf. Categories include:
- Individual Farmers
- Seed Growers
- Agro-dealers
- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
- Millers
- Transporters, including motorbike operators delivering fertiliser and inputs
- Manufacturers
- County Value Chains
“The broadened categories reflect our commitment to inclusive, market-driven agricultural transformation that rewards all contributors—from producers to traders, processors, logistics operators, and counties fostering competitive agricultural ecosystems,” the Ministry stated in the post.

Leaders celebrate farming excellence
Senior national and county leaders are expected to attend, led by Kiprono Ronoh Paul, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Agriculture. His participation underscores the government’s firm commitment to farmer-centred reforms, increased productivity, value addition, market access and private sector participation.
County governments frontline implementers of agricultural transformation will showcase successful grassroots models, innovative partnerships and value chain interventions that are delivering real impact for farmers.
Held under the theme “Seeds of Excellence: Recognising Innovation, Inclusion and Impact in Kenyan Agriculture and the Livestock Sector,” the 2025 awards aim to inspire a new generation of farmers and agripreneurs, promote climate-smart practices and elevate agribusiness competitiveness at both county and national levels.
According to the Ministry, the National Farmers Awards have become a powerful convening platform amplifying success stories, strengthening national-county collaboration and aligning public and private sector efforts toward food security, income growth and economic transformation.
As Kenya accelerates agricultural reforms and deepens value chain development, the 2025 National Farmers Awards will stand as a bold national declaration: that the farmer and everyone who supports the farmer remains firmly at the heart of Kenya’s development agenda.
