Kenya records 439 new Covid-19 cases

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 439 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,937 tested in the last 24 hours.

This translates to an 11.2 percent positivity rate.

Of the cases, 398 are Kenyans, 41 are foreigners, 237 are females, and 202 are males.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 332,898 and cumulative tests so far are 3,750,796.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 198, Kitui 42, Nakuru 27, Kiambu 26, Siaya 26, Murang’a 15, Garissa 14, Bomet 9, Nyeri 9, Tana River 9, Laikipia 7, Makueni 7, Kilifi 6, Nyamira 6, Nyandarua 5, Narok 5, Uasin Gishu 5, Samburu 4, Busia 3, Mombasa 3, Baringo 2, Kisumu 2, Machakos 2, West Pokot 2, Embu, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kirinyaga and Kwale 1 case each.

“Today, 398 patients have recovered from the disease, 384 are from the home-based and isolation care program, while 14 are from various health facilities countrywide.

“This pushes the total recoveries to 323,455, of whom 270,266 are from the home-based care and isolation program, while 53,189 are from various health facilities countrywide,” Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.

No patient has succumbed to the disease hence the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,652.

Covid-19 vaccines administered

The CS further said 18,759,670 vaccines had been administered as of June 27, 2022.

Of these, 16,733,408 are doses administered to the adult population, and another 1,526,764 are administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 42,113 are below 15 years but above 12 years, while 457,385 are booster doses.
