Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Sunday, November 9

Kenya Power has announced a series of planned power outages across parts of Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kiambu, and Kitui counties on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The company shared the details on its social media accounts on Saturday, urging residents and businesses to prepare for the interruptions.

In the North Rift region, the utility will carry out maintenance in parts of Uasin Gishu County. Power will be switched off in the Racecourse and Jumbo Hotel areas, including Upper E/View and adjacent customers, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

On the same day, the BioCorn and Steel Mills areas will also experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected locations include Eldocraft, Kidiwa Estate, Mwanzo Estate, Majengo Catholic Church, Our Lady of Assumption School, and neighbouring customers.

In the Western region, parts of Kisumu County will be affected, particularly Bungu‑Meri Village. The outage will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting Ojong Secondary School, Baba Onditi, Bungu Meri Secondary School, and surrounding areas.

Kiambu and Kitui outages

Parts of Kiambu County will also experience planned blackouts.

Residents and businesses in Gatuanyaga and Muguga, including Kisi Estate, Thika Barracks, MKU Pavilion, Landless Estate, Muguga Market, Gatuanyaga Market, Gatuanyaga Primary School, Makongeni, St. Mulumba Catholic Church, Makongeni Police Station, KCB Makongeni, Carter Oakhill School, Glorious Fountain Academy, and adjacent customers, will lose power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Another area, Thigio and Gitutha, including Nderu, Thigio, Gitutha, part of Kamangu, Kereri, and Nguirubi, will be without electricity during the same hours.

In Kitui County, the Migwani, Kwa Siku, and Mwanzilu areas will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Locations impacted include Kwa Musee, Kwa Gedeon, Kwa Fatuma, Musuani, Kyome Market, Ilalalmbyu, Mwanzilu, Nzeluni, SEKU, Ndaluni Market, Kwa Karanga, Itoloni, Migwani Market, Kwa Siku, Nzauni, Kambemba, KEA, Kilungu, Kanyakini, Itumbi, and nearby customers.
