In a notice shared on its official X account on Saturday, April 25, 2026, the utility said the outages will allow engineers to carry out network maintenance.
“Good Evening. The listed area will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (26th April 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the company said.
In the Nairobi region, the outage will affect parts of Mombasa Road in Machakos County from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. The affected areas include Banbros, Shaba Village, Muthama Heights, Mwananchi Road, 67 Hotel, Makumbi, Prissy Apartments, Apple Tree and nearby customers.

Kenya Power said the maintenance works aim to improve supply reliability and reduce faults on the network.

EPRA pushes regional cooperation
The announcement comes at a time when energy regulators are pushing for reforms to stabilise electricity costs. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has called for stronger regional cooperation to manage supply pressures and reduce tariffs.
Speaking during a conference in Nairobi, EPRA Acting Director General Joseph Oketch said countries must work together to strengthen energy systems.
“The challenges we are facing now are a good opportunity to collaborate across sectors and the region to collectively address vulnerabilities in our energy supply chains while building systems that are flexible integrated and informed by credible research,” he said.
Oketch added that coordinated markets and shared power systems could help reduce shortages and balance demand across the region.
“I emphasise that collaboration remains the cornerstone of progress The challenges we face cannot be addressed in silos,” he said.
EPRA said ongoing reforms, including regional power trade, aim to ease pressure on households as fuel prices continue to affect generation costs.
Kenya Power urged customers in the affected areas to plan ahead and switch off appliances during the outage to avoid damage when power returns. It also advised customers to check the full schedule on its website for any updates.
Network maintenance is carried out periodically to improve reliability and reduce unplanned outages across the grid.
