Kenya Power lists areas set for planned maintenance on October 1

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has listed areas set to be affected by the scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

In their statement released on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, KPLC said; ”Good evening, Please be advised that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, 2025,” the statement read in part.

Following the announcement, businesses and residents in multiple counties across the country will experience planned power outages on the day in question as the electricity provider undertakes routine maintenance work.

According to the notice, the interruptions will affect selected regions in Meru, Kwale, Kisumu, Vihiga, Nairobi North, Kericho, Kiambu, Murang’a, and Nyeri counties. The outages will last between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Counties and affected areas

In Meru County, power will be switched off in Miathene and Kiandiu from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm The affected locations include Gimpine Primary, Thaari, parts of Kianjai, Uuru, Miathene, Kirukire, Kathiiri, Karimba Primary School, Miathene KMTC, Kanjalu Girls, Ithamare, Mwitu C/Fact, Giunku, Kiandiu, Kitheo, and surrounding customers.

In the Coastal region, parts of Kwale County, specifically Tana, Makuyu, and Ndithini, will have an outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Lungalunga, Kilimangodo, Mwereni, Kidomaya, Horohoro, Mwananyamala, Mwangulu, Godo, and nearby customers.

In Kisumu County, residents of Masawa Village and nearby locations such as Obumba Secondary, Achuodho School, Kasarani Market, Land Matobe Village, and Masawa Primary School will be without power from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Vihiga County will also experience outages in Bunyore TTC, Ilungu Market, Ematsuli, Esirulo Water Pump, Isanda, and adjacent areas during the same hours, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Other regional outages

In Nairobi North, Parklands, and nearby locations such as Kipkabus Road, part of Ngara, Museum, Westlands Road, part of Kipande Road, KU School of Law, Chemill Road, Musembi Road, and Qwetu will have no power between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Kericho County residents in Letting, Kapsorok Concrete, Kapsorok Market, and Kamael Market will also face interruptions during the same hours.

In Kiambu County, Kibichoi and Marige areas, including Marige, Komothai Boys, Komothai Girls, Kigumo, Gathugu, Gitombo, Gathiruini, Githioro, Mount Moriah, and Kibichoi Shops, will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Similarly, Murang’a County will experience outages in Tana, Makuyu, and Ndithini, covering Ndithini Children’s Home, Kaguku, Busyani, Ndithini Mission Hospital, Kiatineni Nduvuini Primary, Tana Ranch Primary, and Tana Ranch during the same period.

In Nyeri County, Sagana State Lodge and surrounding areas, including Kiganjo Fisheries, Karandi Market, Iruri Market, Iruri Dispensary, Iruri Village, Iganjo Village, Mutaga Village, and nearby Safaricom and Airtel booster stations will face power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kenya Power has urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make prior arrangements to minimise inconveniences during the maintenance period.
