Kenya Power: Blackout to hit parts of Nairobi on Monday, November 10

By , November 9, 2025

Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption in parts of Nairobi County on Monday, November 10, 2025, as part of its routine maintenance schedule.

In a notice shared on its social media platforms on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the company said the outage will affect Mirema and its surroundings from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Areas to be impacted include Lumumba Drive, Mirema Road, Mirema Drive, Paris Lounge, PAC University, Mirema Primary School, and adjacent customers.

The company said the temporary outage is necessary to allow engineers to carry out maintenance and system upgrades to ensure a reliable electricity supply. It urged customers to treat all electrical lines as live during the maintenance period and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Nationwide maintenance

The notice follows similar planned outages announced for other counties on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Parts of Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kiambu, and Kitui were affected as the utility firm continued with network upgrades across the country.

In Uasin Gishu, power was switched off in areas such as Racecourse, Jumbo Hotel, Upper Eldoret View, and neighbouring customers between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The company also cut supply in BioCorn and Steel Mills areas, including Mwanzo Estate, Majengo Catholic Church, and Our Lady of Assumption School, until 5:00 pm.

In Kisumu County, the outage hit Bungu-Meri Village, affecting institutions such as Ojong Secondary School and Bungu Meri Secondary School.

Meanwhile, residents in Kiambu County – particularly in Gatuanyaga, Muguga, Thigio, and Gitutha – also faced blackouts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some of the affected facilities included Thika Barracks, MKU Pavilion, Landless Estate, and Muguga Market.

Kitui County was not spared, with power interruptions reported in Migwani, Kwa Siku, and Mwanzilu areas.

The ongoing maintenance comes at a time when the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains will persist across several parts of the country through November. The department cautioned that the rains could cause floods and landslides in already saturated areas, urging residents to remain vigilant.

Motorists and pedestrians have also been advised to avoid flooded roads and not to seek shelter under trees during storms.

Kenya Power continues to release daily outage schedules as part of its commitment to improving electricity reliability and safety across the country.
