Kenya Police names new spokesperson after transfer of Charles Owino

The National Police Service has named its new spokesperson after the former office holder, Charles Otieno was transferred on May 11 to the Kenya Natinal Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons (KNFP) as a Deputy Director.

Shioso brings a wealth of expereince having served as a police commissioner attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Announcing the appointment of Shioso on Tuesday, August 17, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said the new police spokesperson was picked from the United Nations Police (UNPOL) where he was a team leader of the Serious and Organised Crime Team (SOC Team) within the Mission Management and Support Section.

According to the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime, the SOC Team to which Shioso was attached is instrumental in supporting police components within peace operations and special political missions with the necessary tools and skills to adequately enhance institutional capacities and operational capabilities of host nations on organized crime.
