Kenya Met predicts sunny conditions with rain in selected areas
By Kiprono Keileb, November 18, 2025The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a fresh update, cautioning Kenyans to brace for another week of sunny and dry weather despite scattered showers expected in select regions.
The latest weekly notice issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, covering November 18 to 24, 2025, paints a picture of a country experiencing mixed conditions, scorching heat in some places and unusually cold nights in others.
In its statement, the department said the general weather pattern remains largely unchanged, with many parts of the country staying dry even as isolated rain continues in key regions.

“Most areas to remain sunny & dry, with rainfall expected over the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, SE Lowlands, Western & NE Kenya,” the statement reads
For residents across coastal counties and the northern corridor, the heat is expected to intensify. The weatherman noted that “Max temps >30°C in Coast, NE/NW Kenya, parts of SE Lowlands, Rift Valley & West,” the statement reads.

These conditions are likely to push communities to rely more on water, shade, and early-morning routines as daytime temperatures rise beyond comfort levels.
But even with the heat, some areas will continue to face the kind of cold nights and mornings that caught many by surprise last week. “Min temps <10°C in Central Highlands, Rift Valley, Western Kenya & near Mt. Kilimanjaro,” the department noted. Such low temperatures often affect early-morning farmers, school-going children and families living in informal settlements.

The notice also looked back at last week’s weather, highlighting areas that recorded extreme conditions.
“During the review period of November 10 to 16, Kikumbulyu South (Makueni) recorded 54.7mm,” marking one of the highest rainfall amounts in the country. In contrast, the northern town of Mandera continued to swelter with temperatures soaring as high as “37.5°C.” Meanwhile, Nyahururu experienced one of the coldest moments with “5.0°C,” the statement reads
With these shifting patterns, Kenyans are encouraged to stay alert, plan their days around the heat, and prepare for changing morning and evening temperatures as the week unfolds.
