Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, who served as the Chief Guest, led the tribute under the theme “Honouring Their Sacrifice, Upholding Their Legacy.”

The ceremony, held at the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ Campus, brought together leaders, officers, families, and partners in a solemn tribute to honour the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price while safeguarding the nation,” the NPS stated.

“The event, themed ‘Honouring Their Sacrifice, Upholding Their Legacy,’ reflected the Services’ profound gratitude for the courage and dedication of officers who put the safety of the country above their own. The statement further noted that Kanja had praised the fallen officers as patriots who placed the safety and stability of the nation above their own lives.

In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of memorialising the officers’ sacrifice, noting that each fallen hero represents “a star dimmed in our constellation of service and a story of courage cut short.”

Supporting officers

He also reassured families that the country remains committed to supporting them, affirming that the officers’ contributions form the very foundation of national security.

“In his remarks, the Inspector General paid tribute to the gallant officers who lost their lives on the front line while serving the nation. He emphasised that it is fitting to remember and celebrate the heroes whose bravery safeguarded Kenya’s peace and stability. The IG pledged continued support to the families of the fallen heroes, noting that ‘each life lost is a star dimmed in our constellation of service, and each name etched is a story of courage cut short.’ He reaffirmed that their sacrifice was not in vain, as it forms the foundation upon which the country’s security stands,” the statement read.
