Members of the National Assembly allied to Kenya Kwanza coalition yesterday told their colleagues from Azimio- One Kenya alliance to move on from the effects of the August election and welcome President William Ruto whenever he visits their regions.

While debating the presidential speech delivered last week, the lawmakers said the presidency is a symbol of national unity and should be embraced by all.

MPs Martha Wangari (Gilgil), Robert Pukose (Endebess), said the recent visit by Ruto to Nyanza region is a clear indication of his commitment towards ensuring that the country remains united despite

Wangari (pictured) told the lawmakers to always be present whenever a head is visiting their regions.

She said, “the unity of this country is something we cannot take for granted, what the president has started to do like travelling to Nyanza has shown he is ready to embrace everyone. I think we should get out of the election mood and if the president is in your area it is only reasonable you be present,” she said.

Visited Nyanza

Pukose said it was unfortunate that leaders were not present when Ruto visited Nyanza over the weekend.

It was upon you to welcome the president and tell him the issues you have affecting your region,” he said.
