“Kenya & Egypt Relations Kenya and Egypt have begun implementing a Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership aimed at transforming longstanding diplomatic ties into structured economic, energy, and political cooperation. The initiative follows high-level consultations between Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, building on agreements reached earlier by Presidents William Ruto and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi,” the statement read.

The partnership is designed to expand economic ties and foster cooperation on projects that could significantly impact Kenya’s industrial and energy sectors.

It highlighted plans for industrial development, including pharmaceutical manufacturing in Kenya, and a stronger focus on renewable energy collaboration, signalling the countries’ intent to pursue sustainable growth together.

“The partnership prioritises expanding trade and investment, strengthening renewable energy collaboration, and promoting industrial development, including plans for pharmaceutical manufacturing in Kenya. Both countries are also increasing coordination within the African Union on regional stability and institutional reform, while cooperating on Nile Basin development and infrastructure initiatives. A planned state visit by President El-Sisi is expected to further consolidate the relationship, which is emerging as a significant cross-regional alliance shaping economic integration and geopolitical coordination in Africa,” the statement added.

Officials say the agreement also aims to strengthen political coordination within continental frameworks, particularly the African Union, to support regional stability and institutional reform.
