Kenya 7s announce squad for Challenger Series in Dubai

Kenya 7s assistant coach Loius Kisia has unveiled the squad set to compete in the first leg of the Challenger Series in Dubai.

The coaching staff has opted to retain much of the squad that secured victories in the Africa Men’s 7s and Safari 7s tournaments.

Kenya 7s changes

Brian Mutugi, who missed the Africa Men’s 7s but made his Kenya 7 debut in the Safari 7s, has earned a spot in the final 12-man squad.

George Ooro, who was absent from the Safari 7s, returns to the squad, replacing Herman Humwa.

Shujaa, as the team is known, is scheduled to kick off their Challenger Series journey in Dubai with a match against Mexico at 1:14 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024.

Subsequently, they will face East African rivals Uganda at 5:58 p.m., concluding their Pool C campaign against Germany at 12:59 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

In the women’s competition, the Lionesses, assigned to Pool B, will initiate their campaign against China at 11:36 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024.

Following this, they will contend with Czechia at 3:58 p.m. on the same day. The Lionesses will conclude their pool fixtures against Mexico at 10:59 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024
