The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of five roundabouts along Uhuru Highway.

In a statement on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said the closure will be effected between December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024.

The five roundabouts include Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be temporary partial closure at five roundabouts along Uhuru Highway (A8). These roundabouts are Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way,” Ndung’u said.

“This closure will commence from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024, both days inclusive. This is to allow for highway maintenance works along these sections.”

KeNHA advised motorists using the road to approach the affected sections with caution as some lanes will be closed and traffic subjected to share lanes.

KeNHA closes Southern Bypass

The authority also announced a temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass for 28 days.

In a public notice on Wednesday, December 27, Ndung’u said the section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass (both bounds) between Lang’ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange will be closed from December 27, 2023, to January 23, 2024.

The closure will facilitate the installation of a Virtual Weighbridge along the section.
