Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) conducted free medical check-ups for children at Kapau in Baringo County on Thursday evening.

The troops conducted the initiative under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU), partnered with Chemolingot Sub-County Hospital and the Kenya Red Cross team.

During the operation, the children were provided with general medical check-ups including malaria screening, gastritis screening, polio immunization, screening for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), and Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI).

Speaking during the exercise, medical officer Peter Gakuna highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying healthy children broaden their chances to grow into more productive adults who will positively impact society.

“To reach their full potential, children need high-quality health care and services,” Gakuna said.

Other medics including Jane Sarich, a Public Health Officer from the Chemolingot Sub-County Hospital encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s health by ensuring that they are immunized.
