KCSE 2025: Kabare Girls’ principal sets sights on greater targets in 2026 exams
By Bancy Lole, January 10, 2026Teachers and students of Kabare Girls High School erupted into celebrations following the release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, which showed a notable improvement in the school’s overall performance.
Kabare Girls, the only girls’ national school in Kirinyaga County, posted a mean grade of 8.9, up from 8.6 in 2024, signalling steady academic growth and consistency.
Speaking on Saturday, January 10, 2026, during the celebrations at the school, Chief Principal Wambui Njoroge praised both teachers and learners for their dedication and discipline, terming the results as a reward for collective effort.
Discipline and commitment
“These results did not come by chance. They are a product of teamwork, discipline, and commitment from our teachers, students, and parents,” said Njoroge.
According to the principal, the school registered six A plain, 54 A–, 88 B+, 92 B, 65 B–, 49 C+, 17 C and seven C– grades in the 2025 examinations.
Out of the 378 candidates who sat for the exams, 354 attained the minimum university entry grade, translating to a 97 per cent transition rate.
“Having 97 per cent of our candidates qualifying for university is a big achievement. It shows that we are nurturing not just excellence at the top, but overall strong academic performance,” she added.

Njoroge attributed the improved results to sustained teacher commitment, effective academic programs and discipline among students, noting that the school is already setting higher targets.
“We are encouraged by this improvement, and our focus now is to work even harder as we aim for a mean grade of 10 in future examinations,” she said.
Proud parent
She also lauded the students for their resilience and focus throughout their academic journey, urging them to remain disciplined as they transition to the next stage of their education. ‘
Among the elated parents from the school was former Mikinduri MCA Gabriel Chokera, who celebrated the achievement of her daughter, who wrote her A-level exams at the institution
“Four years ago I took my daughter Lizah M. Gabu to Kabare Girls High School. I told her to work hard and make me proud. Today am a proud Dad celebrating exemplary good performance. Thank you very my daughter,” Chokera posted on Facebook after accessing the 2025 results of her daughter.
Other schools in Kirinyaga County also posted commendable results in the 2025 KCSE examinations, with Baricho Boys High School topping in Kirinyaga County.
