Kasmuel McOure calls on ODM youth to uphold Raila’s legacy
By Faith Lagat, December 7, 2025Vocal Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth activist Kasmuel McOure has urged young party members in their twenties to organise themselves into a disciplined bloc and take ownership of Raila Odinga’s political legacy.
McOure said the current generation of young Democrats can no longer remain spectators in shaping Kenya’s political future.
Seizing political space
In a manifesto-style post on X on Sunday, December 7, 2025, McOure wrote, “To the Young Democrats of ODM, there comes a moment in every political generation when it must decide whether it will merely spectate or step forward to shape the nation,” read McOure’s X post dated December 7, 2025.
“For us, that moment is now. Power never yields space to the young out of generosity. Space is seized, defended and expanded by those who understand their worth and organise with precision.”
He reminded the youth that Raila Odinga had supported them during the 2024 nationwide protests. “We must never forget that H.E. Rt Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga stood with us when it mattered most. He affirmed our place in the struggle for a just, democratic and dignified Kenya. His legacy is now in our hands. The question is whether we will rise to preserve it, deepen it and advance it,” McOure wrote.

Championing loyal leaders
McOure singled out Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Nairobi politician George Aladwa, and Kajulu MP Joshua Odalo as leaders who consistently support the youth.
“Politics rewards loyalty to principle and solidarity in action. That is why leaders such as Governor Gladys Wanga, Hon. George Aladwa and Hon. Odalo command the trust of the youth. They have shown again and again that when you stand with them, they stand with you. They neither flinch nor waver,” he stated.
He argued that the 2024 protests demonstrated the political muscle of the younger generation. “Young Democrats in their twenties are ready for the frontline. Our generation has already proven its courage. Last year, we rekindled the conscience of the nation. We defended the Constitution. We challenged impunity. We resurrected a democratic energy that had faded,” he said.
Uniting for collective empowerment
McOure announced he will lead an initiative to unite ODM youth, building a coherent front for collective empowerment.
“Beginning this week, I shall lead an initiative to unite Young Democrats of my generation to build a coherent front for our collective empowerment. We will chart our path with discipline, solidarity and transformative ambition,” he declared.
“History does not wait for the hesitant. It rewards the prepared.” McOure’s call comes amid growing youth discontent within ODM over perceived betrayal during and after the 2024 protests.
