Kaluma lauds Ruto over development in Nyanza

Homa Bay Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has thanked President William Ruto for the growth witnessed in the Nyanza region.
In his statement shared by his official X account on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Kaluma appreciated the president for the developments witnessed in the region after what he described as long years of marginalization by past regimes.
He particularly acknowledged the government’s initiative to host the Madaraka Day celebrations at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
“Raila Odinga Stadium-Homa Bay (ROSH) will be ready to host Madaraka Day Celebrations, 2025.
“Thank you President @WilliamsRuto for the developments you are bringing to our land, after long years of marginalization by past regimes.
“We are seeing them with our own eyes!” Kaluma said.
This year’s Madaraka Day theme will be Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo on Thursday, February 27, 2025, said that plans are underway to expand and rehabilitate Kabunde Airstrip and some identified road infrastructure within the area.
He also led the National Celebrations Steering Committee in having extensive deliberations with the local political leaders led by Governor Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.
Raila Odinga Stadium is currently undergoing a facelift ahead of hosting the event.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya early this month said the project will cost Ksh500 million and is expected to be completed by May 20, 2025.
He said it involves putting up new terraces with a seating capacity of 10,000 around the main pitch.
To ensure that the stadium meets the specifications to enable it to host the national event, the national government partnered with the county government of Homa Bay to improve the stadium.
The CS stated that President William Ruto had instructed government officials in charge of the project to allocate funds and resources for the stadium’s expansion.
