Kalonzo to grace Karua’s PLP NDC, skips Jubilee’s similar event

By , September 24, 2025

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that he will be attending Martha Karua’s PLP National Delegates Conference (NDC) but will skip Jubilee’s similar event.

Speaking at the SKM Command Centre on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, he stated that Martha Karua had officially extended an invitation to opposition leaders, including himself.

He further explained that he would not attend Jubilee’s NDC since the party’s secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, had earlier stated that he does not expect other national leaders to attend, as the Jubilee event is being conducted strictly as a party affair.

Kioni had stated that during the last Jubilee NDC, chaired by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, ended up in court with a section of the party members who wanted to take the party from Uhuru, stating that the event was presided over by strangers.

Kalonzo further stated that for this sake the former ruling party should first solve its internal conflicts but took the opportunity to wish the party well as they celebrate their NDC.

“Kioni said he is not expecting other national leaders to come. They are doing it as a Jubilee event because last time we attended the Jubilee NDC, which was chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the matter went up to court, and in their pleadings, they were told they invited strangers, so we are in a category of strangers. Let them first sort their things; we wish our brothers and sisters in Jubilee well,” Kalonzo stated.

ODM’s founder members’ party

In the same presser, Kalonzo has also declined an invitation by ODM leader Raila Odinga, who had requested him to attend the founder members’ party slated for October 10.

While declining the invitation, Kalonzo stated that on the same date, when ODM is scheduled to hold its founder members’ celebration, his party, the Wiper Patriotic Front, will also be holding its National Delegates Conference, making him unable to attend the event.

He added that he is going to craft a reply letter to his friend Raila, whom he has stood by and supported three times, to formally decline the invitation.

Kalonzo also noted that he is aware President William Ruto has likewise been invited to attend the event since he is also a founding member of the Orange party.

“Raila Odinga ameniandikia a very nice letter, my dear brother, as a founder member of ODM, for an event on the 10th. Unfortunately, I am going to reply telling Jim that on the 10th we will be having the national delegates’ CoFetaof Wiper, so I will not attend,” Kalonzo stated.
