A message of grief and solidarity
In the letter, Kalonzo, who described himself as both party leader and friend, acknowledged the profound pain facing Senator Kavindu and her family.
He noted that the loss of a child is a wound beyond human understanding, particularly painful for a mother laying to rest her only son.

“It is with a heavy heart that I received the devastating news of the sudden passing of your beloved son, Moses Muthama. As a parent myself, I cannot begin to imagine the depth of pain and anguish you are enduring at this moment,” Kalonzo wrote.
He further added: “Dear Senator Kavindu, the loss of a child is a wound that defies all human comprehension. To lay to rest Moses, your only son, is a cross far too heavy for any mother to bear. My heart breaks for you, for Johnson, and for your entire family.”

Remembering Moses Muthama
Kalonzo paid tribute to Moses as a young man full of promise and potential, recalling the joy and pride he brought to his family. He reflected on the memories Moses created, describing them as a lasting testament to the love shared within the family.
“I remember Moses as a vibrant young man, full of promise, dreams, and possibilities. The laughter he brought into your lives, the pride you felt watching him grow, and the future you envisioned for him now stand alongside an unspeakable sorrow,” the message read.
Despite the grief, Kalonzo noted that such memories remain a source of strength and a reminder of the bond Moses shared with his loved ones.
“As your Party Leader and more importantly, your friend, I stand with you in this valley of shadow,” he wrote, assuring the senator of continued support and prayers.
