Kalonzo: Ruto has turned Kenya into a money laundering hub

By , September 26, 2025

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has blamed President William Ruto for turning Kenya into a money laundering hub.

Speaking on Friday, September 26, 2025, during the PLP’s National Delegates Conference at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, the former Vice President said the Head of State is overseeing the economic crime amid the watch of international communities.

Kalonzo was responding to President Ruto’s sentiments at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On Thursday, September 25, 2026, President Ruto and California Governor Gavin Newsom witnessed the signing of the California–Africa Climate and Economic Partnership between Kenya and the State of California.

”This partnership focuses on sustainable transport and electric mobility, green ports, climate-smart agriculture and resilient food systems, renewable energy and green infrastructure, digital innovation, and climate adaptation. As part of the agreement, a Centre of Excellence on Clean Transport Systems in Africa will be established in Kenya to drive innovation and knowledge exchange. This makes Kenya the first African country to sign an MoU with California, the world’s fourth-largest economy,” Ruto said.

Earlier, Kalonzo said he was ready to pay any price to block Ruto’s second term.

However, Kalonzo Musyoka has instead fired back at the Head of State on his US tour by saying;

”William Ruto has turned Kenya into a hub for money laundering, forcing the international community to grey-list our nation. And now at the United Nations, we see him attempting reputation laundering, speaking about conflicts in Sudan while conveniently ignoring the fact that his government has openly backed RSF and that Kenyan arms have been traced in that brutal war. Kenyans are watching. The world is watching,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo praises Karua at PLP NDC

Meanwhile, as Kalonzo eyes the 2027 presidency, the Wiper Party leader has also praised PLP leader Martha Karua’s role in the country’s leadership, vowing to work together ahead of the next general election.

Also watch: Karua says she was working hard to be the opposition’s presidential candidate.

”I have known Martha for many years, a courageous and intelligent leader who has never wavered in standing for what is right. Today, as she boldly declared her bid for the presidency in 2027, she reminded us that leadership is about courage, principle, and service. As the United Opposition, we will continue to stand together. We are the Government-In-Waiting, ready to rescue our country from a regime that has betrayed its people. Together, we will restore integrity at home, rebuild Kenya’s name abroad, and deliver the leadership our people deserve,” Kalonzo Musyoka said.
