Kalonzo mourns death of MP Johana Ng’eno following tragic helicopter crash
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has joined several high-profile figures in mourning the death of Emurua Dikiri Member of Parliament (MP) Johana Ng’eno.
The tragic incident that claimed the life of the vocal legislator occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Mosop, Nandi County.
Kalonzo saddened
“The news of this afternoon’s helicopter accident in Chepkieb Forest, Mosop, Nandi County, has left Kenya saddened, and words feel insufficient in such a moment,” Kalonzo said in a statement on his social media pages.
“In this moment of national grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Emurua Dikiri MP Hon. Johana Ngeno and the five families who have lost someone they love. No words can ease such pain, but know that you carry the prayers and solidarity of an entire nation on your shoulders,” he added.
The MP died along with other occupants of the ill-fated chopper.
“To the six departed souls, may God, in His infinite mercy, grant you eternal rest. And to those who mourn, may He give you peace that surpasses all understanding,” the former Vice President added.
“I urge the relevant authorities to move swiftly in establishing the full circumstances of this tragedy and to extend every possible support to the bereaved families.”

Leaders demand probe
Apart from Kalonzo, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also demanded a thorough investigation to establish the cause of the accident.
“Tumepata habari ya kwamba mjumbe wa Emurua Dikirr, pale Kipsigis, Johana Ng’eno, ameaga dunia, kwa ajali ya helicopter,” Gachagua said.
“Sisi tunataka kujua uchunguzi kamili, kwa sababu tunajua huyu kiongozi amekuwa na pingamizi kali pale kwa Kipsigis kwa sababu amekuwa kingpin ya Wakipsigis. We want to call for a very thorough investigation into the helicopter crash that has killed the honourable Johana Ng’eno.”
