Kakamega County Schools football Pools announced

The pools for the upcoming Kakamega County secondary schools football games, set to take place at Kakamega School from July 4-7, have been announced.

The tournament promises to showcase exciting matches as teams from various schools compete for glory.

Kakamega School

Hosts Kakamega School will lead the charge in Pool A, where they will face stiff competition from Shanderema, Matete, and Lugari.

These four teams will battle it out for the top two spots in the pool, aiming to secure a place in the knockout phase of the tournament.

With Kakamega School enjoying home advantage, they will be eager to make their mark and advance in the competition.

Pool B consists of Matungu, Mumias West, and Likuyani. The teams will also be hoping for the top two slots to advance to the next round.

In Pool C, Butere, Sivilie, Khwisero, and Emakhwale will battle it out for supremacy. The final pool, Pool D, features Matiolo, Musingu, and Lugusi.

Kakamega Central sub-county

Kakamega who have been giants in the region will be keen to bounce back from recent struggles.

The record-holding national football champions have advanced to the Kakamega County Secondary School games following their victorious performance in the sub-county tournament held at the Kakamega School Grounds over the weekend.

The Green Commandos triumphed over Matioli Secondary with a 2-0 victory, securing their place in the county games. Matioli, as the runners-up, will also join them in the upcoming county competition.

The Green Commandos showcased their attacking prowess throughout the tournament, demonstrating their dominance by not conceding a single goal.

In the semi-final, the Green Commandos who were in impressive form and defeated Ikonyero 2-0.

The quarterfinal match proved to be a remarkable spectacle as the Green Commandos unleashed a devastating offensive display, overpowering Rosterman with a resounding 13-0 victory.

In the group stages matches played on Saturday, they grabbed a 2-0 over Eshiru Secondary School, thrashed Ematietie 4-0 brushed aside Mwangaza Secondary 3-0.

Last year, they were eliminated in the semi-final stage, suffering a 2-1 defeat against the surprise package of the tournament, Mwitoti, who eventually lost in a penalty shootout to Shanderema after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

In 2019, the Green Commandos faced struggles at the county games, failing to progress beyond the group stages.

Determined to rise above their previous setbacks, the team aims to reclaim their glory after their last title triumph in 2018.

During that victorious campaign, Kakamega School secured their 14th title by defeating Olbolosat from the Central Region with a solitary goal at the Hill School in Eldoret in matches played in July.
