Kabuchai Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga has come out to liken the death of Kibabii University Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. David Siamba to that of renowned writer Ken Walibora.

While speaking during a highly charged funeral ceremony in Maeni Ward, Kimilili, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the outspoken leader who has been demanding answers over the professor’s sudden death claimed that there is more to the story than what meets the eye. He questioned why the professor died just weeks before he was set to attend an interview for the vice chancellor position.

Kalasinga stated that, just like Walibora, who had also been due for an interview, Prof. Siamba was in good health and had shown no signs of illness, only for him to be admitted to the hospital and later die.

“Why is the death of Professor Siamba the same as the death of Ken Walibora Waliaula? Why should he die a few days before the vice chancellor interview? Ken Walibora also died under similar circumstances,” Kalasinga stated.

He urged National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who attended the funeral, to use his office to push the Ministry of Education to call off the interview scheduled for this month until an impartial probe into the academician’s death is conducted.

Wetang’ula’s condolence

When he rose to offer his condolences, Wetang’ula said that he had assured the Kibabii University community of his full support to guarantee a fair, transparent, and merit-based succession process as the current vice chancellor’s term comes to an end.

He addressed concerns about attempts to sideline qualified candidates from the region and pledged decisive action to safeguard integrity and inclusivity in the process. He also announced plans to convene county leaders to address emerging disputes surrounding the university.

“Speaking at the funeral of Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Donald Siamba in Maeni Ward, Kimilili Constituency, I reaffirmed my commitment to the university and announced plans to convene county leaders to address emerging disputes,” Wetang’ula stated.

Wetang’ula condemning violence

The Speaker condemned the political chaos that disrupted the funeral as disrespectful and cautioned the youth against being misused for political purposes. He eulogised Prof. Siamba as a dedicated scholar and conveyed President William Ruto’s message of condolence, praising the late academic’s lasting contribution to education.

Days earlier, Kalasinga had stated that there was foul play in the professor’s death, stating that he and other leaders from the county would not let the matter rest until the truth is established.
